Bigot-filled Vatican

Wednesday, September 21st, 2005

I saw this article today (I know it sucks having to register). Well, once again the Vatican shows why every Catholic should hold their head in shame. What is wrong with people? Can’t we get past this whole gay thing?

Just makes me sick.

Been a week…

Saturday, September 17th, 2005

Looks like I slacked some this week. Truth is, I’ve been super busy at work learning some new technology. Also, some personal side projects have been taking up some other time of mine. I started a bunch of posts, but was unable to finish them. I will get back to quicker posts this week.

I donated $500.00 to various animal shelters to help with saving and recovering animals displaced by the Katrina disaster. My fiancee has put together a great list of organizations that need your help. You can see the list here.

Some observations from this week:

1) John Roberts is extremely qualified to be on the Supreme Court
2) Joe Biden is an ass
3) Bush gets a few points for accepting responsibility
4) Tom DeLay is an ass
5) XM Radio rules

Katrina Review

Sunday, September 11th, 2005

I’m finding a couple recurring themes in the nations response to Katrina:

1) Democrats and opponents of Bush wasted little time throwing down the race card, even if there is no reason
2) People hate Bush so much, they blame him first no matter what the facts are
3) Democrats and liberals in general have do a good job in conditioning Americans to expect the federal government to be like a white knight, swooping in to fix every little problem in the country
4) Cronyism is great to criticize beforehand, not after the fact. So if a party in power (let’s say the Democrats in 2002 when they controlled the Senate) allows Michael Brown to be confirmed, it’s a little disengenious to complain later when he turns out to be a putz.
5) Ray Nagin is a self-aggrandizing camera hog
6) Bush needs to be as tough on bureaurocrats as he is on terrorists
7) There needs to be less focus on centralization of disaster management, and more focus on local, first responders
8) Any politician you see on television complaining about Bush or praising Bush is full of it, and isn’t helping the problem.
9) Animals get no respect.

Pork, Not Just Bad For Your Heart

Saturday, September 10th, 2005

So I found this article by the Washington Post, which pretty much demolishes the entire meme that is being put out by the Bush haters, that it was Bush’s cuts in a couple projects that left New Orleans unprotected for Katrina. Apparently, the government has allocated BILLIONS of dollars to the state of Lousiana for various projects, but they didn’t always spend wisely. So, uh, let’s move on to a real solution, ok?

The real problems are that the way our government runs, and the way people perceive government to now be the national nanny. The citizens of Lousiana pay money in taxes to the federal government, and then pray that their congress people get enough pork slipped into enough bills to bring the money back to the state. Of course, there is no guarantee that the money will actually go to the needs of the state versus the needs of the campaign contributors.

I don’t say this to defend Bush, but to say that I highly disagree and abhor the idea of depending on the federal government to allocate funds properly to deal with local concerns.

DeLay no more please!

Friday, September 9th, 2005

Can Tom DeLay just please resign? I’m tired of watching politicians slimier than eels (no offense to the eels btw), constantly have to explain why they’re not guilty of being a scumbag. I’m tired of two parties full of douchebags running the federal government.

Here is the story that annoyed, right here

Bledsoe’s Pledge

Thursday, September 8th, 2005

I commend Drew Bledsoe for donating $2500.00 per touchdown pass, but with his current ability, he’ll need to up it to $10,000.00 to make a big difference.

Story is here.

Arnold says no

Thursday, September 8th, 2005

In a big surprise to me, Arnold vetoed a gay marriage bill in Califorinia. Full story is here.

While I can see the point, that passing a law that would go against the will of the people wouldn’t be good representative government, in this case I think Arnold has dropped the ball. I don’t know why he would be pandering to the conservative right on this issue, when he’s so clearly pro abortion. I just don’t get it.

A new beginning…

Thursday, September 8th, 2005
While I am waiting for a process to finish and my laptop is bogged down, I thought I would post the first post to the new blog. I set this up a couple weeks ago, but hadn’t gotten around to finishing it. I will try to post here more often than I did with www.jxie.com, with shorter entries. www.jxie.com will now be retired.
