Ron Paul: Internet Phantom
A recent Gallup Poll shows Ron Paul carrying 0% support. I realize in the blogosphere, Ron Paul is the best candidate since Howard Dean. Apparently, Digg users and bloggers love an economically conservative, gay hating, sexist, godbagging Republican. Oh, yeah, I forgot, he’s against the Iraq war, and that trumps all his bigotry. My bad.
I know it gets talked about a lot, but I wonder if Ron Paul is really affecting the “debate”, whatever that means. After all, Republicans have always tried to ban abortion, discriminate against gays, and push their religious beliefs onto others. That’s not something new that Ron Paul brought to the debate. No Republican is adopting his other platform of tearing apart the federal government. So he’s not had an effect there either. As for the Iraq War, please. Republicans are running away from the President because they want to get re-elected, not because of Ron Paul. Does anyone really think Republicans looking to be re-elected would support the war if not for Ron Paul?
So, I see little influence from the Ron Paul campaign. Yeah, he’s big on Digg and YouTube, but come on, big deal. He’s not getting votes, he’s not influencing campaigns. He’s just a gay bashing, woman hating, religious pushing white male from Texas. Um, don’t we already have enough of those?

“He’s just a gay bashing, woman hating, religious pushing white male from Texas”
How fucking dumb are you? Can’t you read plain english? Rom Paul may be against abortion personally, but, he has determined that this is a matter for the states to decide, not the federal government. Same thing about gays, and religion. He stands for the constitutional idea that it is NOT the place of the federal government to dictate morality. He also states that it is not the USA’s place to force our policies on other countries. Do us all a favor, learn to read before attempting to write.

Matthew,
The only people who need to learn to read, are Ron Paul supporters who haven’t actually read all the bills he’s tried to pass. Nice try though, you list the talking points well.

it is NOT the place of the federal government to dictate morality.
Yeah, leave it up to the states to oppress everyone who isn’t a rich white heterosexual male. That’s 100% better.

Not that anyone would take this blog seriously, but if you look at usaelectionpolls.com and pick a variety of the national polls, you’ll see that Ron Paul has gone up from 1% to 2% & 3%. Though this doesn’t support your claim so I can see why wouldn’t mention that. Keep up the disinformation, marginalization and ignorant front to make the world a better place by your intellectual dishonesty.

Ron Paul hates gays?
Here’s the facts…..
Voted NO on Constitutional Amendment banning same-sex marriage. (Jul 2006)
Voted NO on Constitutional Amendment banning same-sex marriage. (Sep 2004)
Here’s my source

And as far as being a woman hater, I can oly assume you are refferring to his position on abortion. I think that’s a bit of a stretch. Just because the man believes someone shouldn’t be deprived the right to exist because it is inconvenient for the mother, doesn’t mean he hates women.

William_B: lemme know when Ron Paul allows gays in the military.

Gwydion5:
Sorry for using recent data that disagrees with your preconceived of Ron Paul success. I’ll try to keep the blinders on for ya.

Don’t bother with this joker… have you checked some of the other posts on this blog? He apparently wants to grow the government to an unimaginable size and have it stick it’s nose in everyone’s daily business… he wants everyone to be forced to be a vegan, everyone forced to be bi-sexual and all religion banned.

tsoldrin: feel free to post your evidence of my desire to grow the government to unimaginable size. As a note, I’m a registered Libertarian, unlike Paul, who is a Republican.

How am I wearing blinders when you are using 1 recent poll, that contradicts its own past polls of Ron Paul.
USA Today/Gallup Poll 6/2/2007: Ron Paul 1%
USA Today/Gallup Poll 6/13/2007: Ron Paul 2%
USA Today/Gallup Poll 7/7/2007: Ron Paul 0%
Yet wait, let’s look at some of the other polls which may not be as recent as 7/7 and compare.
ABC News/Washington Post Poll 4/14/2007: Ron Paul 1%
ABC News/Washington Post Poll 6/1/2007: Ron Paul 2%
CNN/Opinion Research Corporation Poll 3/10/2007: Ron Paul 2%
CNN/Opinion Research Corporation Poll 4/11/2007: Ron Paul 1%
CNN/Opinion Research Corporation Poll 5/5/2007: Ron Paul 1%
FOX News/Opinion Dynamics Poll w/o Fred Thompson 5/16/2007: Ron Paul 1%
FOX News/Opinion Dynamics Poll w/o Fred Thompson 6/6/2007: Ron Paul 2%
Zogby America Poll 3/24/2007: Ron Paul 3%
NBC News/Wall Street Journal Poll 6/10/2007: Ron Paul 2%
Yeah, it sure looks like I’m looking at Ron Paul with blinders on.

Gwydion5,
The polls don’t contradict themselves. Ron Paul’s support is always about the same as the margin of error. He’s not going up. The poll with the highest support was back in March. Are you really excited about 1-2%? He’s going nowhere. Get used to it.

Actually, he says people should be treated as individuals, not as gay or straight. It should not factor into the decision. That is why he says don’t ask don’t tell is ok - because it shouldn’t be involved.
As for the polls, those media polls are all about name recognition.
#1 They only poll people who voted republican in the last election(most left republican party due to war and change in party).
#2 They do not list him in like 20 states in those polls, but the poll is a national average. They do not even list him in his home state. Meanwhile, people like fred thompson who haven’t even declared has been listed since 2005.
#3 He has finished in 2nd or 1st in straw polls. In a recent republican straw poll in NH he pulled in over 60%, 2nd place was rudy with 8%.
Those polls are nothing but name recognition at this point. Bill Clinton was polling like this back when he won the presidency.

Shane, my only point in making a comment on your little troll project was to point out your intellectual dishonesty. Then you say I’m the one with blinders on for criticizing your lead in about a recent poll, on this digital waste of an opinion that is stereo typical leftist ad hominem on the right.
I’m not even going to go in to the statistical insignificance of the polling system and the flaws of their process. Have a nice life Shane, and please don’t breed.

Gwydion5,
How is pointing out a recent poll, one of many that shows Ron Paul with little or no national support, intellectually dishonest? The poll itself was only a small part of the entire post, in fact. So, whatever. Once again Ron Paul supporters have proven themselves to be rediculous.
