Shane.... a lot of people remember "the shot". I remember telling you at the time that it was a major league shot. Do you remember your first at bat that day? You hit a long fly ball to deep right field for a very long out. You came over to me on the sidelines and asked what you had to do and we talked about moving back 6 inches in the batters box, and pulling the trigger a bit quicker, and that the first pitch would probably be a fast ball strike because that is what he had been throwing everyone all afternoon. well, you made a perfect adjustment, jumped all over that first pitch strike, and away it went. So don't sell yourself short.... you became a pretty smart, scientific hitter. I also remember more than a few long doubles that season as well. You had a good schoolboy career as a ballplayer. And all through those years, you kept "coming back".

Thank you for the kind words Bob. I do look at those years fondly, even if I wasn't personally so successful.

Shane, you were inconsistent but any team that wins a championship does so because of the entire roster. The home run you hit was one of the longest I ever saw hit on that field. It was a major league shot to left center. I remember the play well. You were a dead fastball hitter and loved the ball down low and this created the perfect storm when the pitch was a fastball over the plate but down around your ankles. While your foot speed was shall we say suspect, you hit it far enough that even that couldn't stop you from touching them all.
