The Libertarian Dime continues

Friday, May 23rd, 2008

I haven’t posted about my podcast since after our third episode of the rebranding. The show hasn’t stopped in the meantime though. Jonathan and I have done three more since then, and I think the show gets stronger each week. It’s become a very important task every week for us to do, and we’ve been taking it seriously. This past week’s episode was all about the carbon credit market and aspects of Kyoto. I feel like we could and maybe should do even another show about it, since I think we barely touched the surface.

For all those curious, the show is at:

Next week we’ll be talking about the Libertarian National Convention, and trying to get the flavor of it. I hope also to get the eventual libertarian candidate on, to see if I would vote for him.

Episode #3 of The Libertarian Dime…DONE!

Thursday, May 1st, 2008

We did our third episode of the new podcast on Monday night, but due to time constraints, I was only able to produce and load it last night. Because we ended up missing a week for my brother Josh’s wedding, Glenn Nielsen of the Missouri Libertarian Party ended up being our guest again, back to back. This time we had him on to talk about the fourth amendment and some recent court cases.

Still putting together the next show, and I lined up a huge guest for a show in June, a far bigger guest than we expected. For now, though, I’m focused on the next couple shows. If all goes well, next week’s show will be less political and more practical. It’s the type of show I would like to do now and then to expand the show’s horizon’s.

The new episode can be found at:

Episode #2 of The Libertarian Dime..DONE!

Sunday, April 13th, 2008

We did the interview with Glenn Nielsen today. He was nice enough to give us a 70 minute interview. I’m learning a lot about the whole process of interviewing people and doing a show. Jonathan and I are having fun doing it, and we’ve gone too far to stop now. I’m even thinking of doing a smaller weekly podcast concerning Hellfood.com.

The show is hosted at: http://thelibertariandime.podshow.com.

Next week, I’ll be in Vegas for my brother’s wedding and we’re gonna do a show while I’m there. Not sure when and where, but we’ll think of something.

Episode #2 of The Libertarian Dime

Friday, April 11th, 2008

This Sunday Jonathan and I will be recording the second episode of The Libertarian Dime, and this week we have a guest. We are interviewing Glenn Nielsen, the State Chair of the Missouri Libertarian Party. I will be asking him about what the Missouri chapter of the party is up to, how their policies are connected to the national platform, and a series of questions about specific issues I care about.

This will be my first ever interview of someone in the role of a “media” person. The goal is to get some information out there and not be boring. If I have to, I’ll bring up Ron Paul. That will surely create some fireworks. :)

End of an era, beginning of a new one

Monday, April 7th, 2008

This past week Jonathan and I decided to end the Libertarian Douchebag Podcast. I know, I know. So many of you are now wondering what you will now do every Monday. We just decided that we couldn’t get the type of reach and content we wanted, with the Douchebag part of the name. So, we ended it…

only to create a new podcast called The Libertarian Dime. The new url is http://thelibertariandime.podshow.com. We recorded our first new episode for the new brand this weekend, and we hope to have some big announcements soon for upcoming shows. This past week was probably the longest show you will hear us do, but if you listen to it, you will see that we could have gone even longer.

LD #2

Sunday, March 30th, 2008

After a better than expected response to our first episode of Libertarian Douchebag, Jonathan and I recorded another one today. I mixed and uploaded it up already, so head on over to http://libertariandouchebag.podshow.com/ for your LD fix. We’re still learning, but I think this episode was much stronger than the first.

Enjoy!

New Podcast

Sunday, March 23rd, 2008

Ages late to the party, I decided to start my own podcast, to maybe better explain all the things I never get around to writing about. I joined up with my friend Jonathan, and using Skype, recorded the first episode last Tuesday. The first thing I learned about podcasting from actually doing one, is that I hate how my voice sounds when it’s recorded. I sound like a six foot version of Kermit the Frog. Secondly, it is harder than it sounds. There are many visual and aural cues you normally pick up on when you have a face to face conversation with someone that are totally missing over Skype.

Overall, I’m mostly happy with the first episode. I know I was pretty rough, stuttered a few times or more here and there, and sometimes lost track of my thoughts. However, the first episode is done, mixed, and up online. No hiding now.

We hope to do at least one episode a week, and I’m pretty sure we will get better. If anything, this podcast will make me a better speaker overall, and even if I never get beyond ten listeners, I will have accomplished something.

So, with no more waiting needed, the url for the podcast is:

http://libertariandouchebag.podshow.com.

Try to enjoy.
